Agency Mandate To plan, provide and maintain delivery of social services to newcomers, immigrants and convention refugees to enhance their participation in the economic, cultural and social life of the community.
Services Settlement Services Provides assistance to newcomer families, individuals, and seniors to help achieve successful settlement and adaptation. Support groups for seniors and women are also offered.
Violence Against Women Provides a safe environment for abused women with counselling, ongoing support, group support and referral services. Program is particularly targeted to Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu speaking women. Catholic Cross Cultural Services is a participant in the HEAL Network which focuses on the effects of family violence on children and youth. Groups are held in multiple languages across the Region. A transitional support worker is available to assist women in the community with transition to a more secure and safe future by offering referrals to housing, income supports, employment and legal supports.
Housing Support Program Catholic Cross Cultural Services is a participant in the Homeless Outreach Program run by the Region of Peel where Family Transition workers assist families into more permanent housing and services.
LINC Teaches English to Newcomers to Canada and provides and Orientation and Adaptation Program to assist in their successful settlement in the community.
Post Settlement Supportive Program Assists the Peel Multicultural community to utilize community services and enhance their participation in community life through information and orientation sessions and individual and group support. Support is provided to refugee claimants through referrals to legal services, community resources and supports until they are accepted as Convention Refugees.
Job Search Workshop Program Assists recent immigrants to identify skills, write effective resumes, prepare for job interviews, access hidden job markets and conduct successful job searches through group support and one-on-one counselling.
